Equipped Seminars
| Chapel
The Equipped Seminar Series is held each summer and is an opportunity for the whole church to be equipped in areas vital to the Christian life. These seminars will provide our church body with tools for responding biblically as individuals and for encouraging one another biblically.
Speaker
On Saturday, August 9, our speaker will be Dr. Mark Shaw, Pastor of Counseling at First Baptist Church Jacksonville at Nocatee. He enjoys counseling and giving oversight to biblical counselors, encouraging them while equipping them.
Dr. Shaw is a prolific writer for Focus Publishing (Bemidji, MN). Currently, he has 28 published books and booklets (nine of which are collaborative works). The most notable are The Heart of Addiction: A Biblical Perspective, Divine Intervention: Hope and Help for Families of Addicts, Relapse: Biblical Prevention Strategies, and Understanding Temptation: The War Within Your Heart.
Dr. Shaw and his wife, Mary, have four adult children.
Topics & Registration
Dr. Shaw will be teaching on understanding the heart of addiction. We will learn the truth about the heart behind a wide spectrum of addictive behaviors and how to help those enslaved to them. These practical seminars can be applied to many areas of enslaving sin: sexual temptation, drugs and alcohol, eating disorders, media/video games, etc.
This whole-day event will include four different seminars; choose to attend every seminar or any combination of them.

- Seminar 4 (3:00pm) - Five Mentalities of Addiction
