Membership in a local church is vital to the spiritual health of each believer. The local church provides a place for corporate worship, fellowship, accountability, and opportunities to serve alongside fellow Christians. Below is some information on biblical membership and how to complete the membership process here at Countryside.

If you are interested in learning more about biblical church membership, please enjoy listening to this message on why Christians love the church.

The Membership Process at Countryside

The major milestones of our membership process are:

  • Membership Application
  • Membership Class
  • Membership Introduction and Reception

Milestone 1: Membership Application

Applying for Membership at Countryside

The first milestone is the Membership Application.

Before applying for membership at Countryside, please carefully read our Doctrinal Statement, Constitution & Bylaws, and Church Distinctives. In His high priestly prayer, Jesus emphasized the importance of unity. It is critical that we as a local church are in agreement on the fundamental issues in Scripture.

After you have read these documents, please follow the link below to apply for membership. Please note that every adult desiring to be considered for membership must fill out a separate application and class registration.

After your application is complete, you will receive a link to register for the next available membership class.

  • Sunday, October 20, 2019 (last class of 2019)

Milestone 2: Membership Class

After Applying for Membership at Countryside

After completing your membership application, you will be eligible for a membership class, our second milestone of membership. These are scheduled several times throughout the year on a Sunday afternoon. The class lasts about 1 ¾ hours. Children (toddler-age 12) will be supervised in the play area by approved children's workers. Teenagers ages 13-17 are welcome to attend the class with their parents and will sit in the waiting area during the leadership interview time.

The class meets in the North Building from 4:00 pm to 5:45 pm.

During the class, you will:

  • Hear about the Core Values of Countryside Bible Church
  • Watch a video highlighting many of the ministries of Countryside
  • Learn about Church Community Builder, our online database
  • Discover how to get involved in various ministries
  • Briefly share with one of our leaders how you found Countryside, why you are applying for membership, and most importantly, how you came to be a believer in Jesus Christ

We will take an informal picture of each applicant to assist our elders and staff in identifying the new members of our church. There will also be an opportunity to meet many of our elders and staff while enjoying refreshments.

To register for the next available membership class, follow the link provided in the confirmation email received after submitting your membership application.

If you have questions about the class, contact Carla Ryan.

Milestone 3: Membership Introduction and Reception

Finalizing Membership at Countryside

After completing your membership application and the membership class, your application will be presented to the Elder Board of Countryside Bible Church for approval.

Once your membership is approved, you will receive a letter of confirmation and an invitation to participate in the last milestone: the Membership Introduction and Reception.

A few times throughout the year, our evening worship service includes a new member introduction. At the end of the service, the pastor will introduce each new member to the congregation and have them come to the front. After the service concludes, the new members and their families will join the congregation in the Fellowship Hall for a informal reception.

Upcoming Membership Introductions and Receptions:

  • Sunday, November 10, 2019 (last introduction of 2019)
